Data scientist and AI analyst, currently taking machine learning somewhere unexpected: the cosmetics industry.
A little context
I was born in Kerala, India, but the UK is where I've mostly grown up. Eleven different schools, which is either a logistical nightmare or the best possible training in adapting fast. I prefer the second reading. So does my CV.
I've been interested in programming since high school and that interest led me to data science, machine learning and AI in particular. I studied Data Science & AI at Leeds Beckett University, where my dissertation on predictive and generative models for demand forecasting received the CreateFuture Award for Applied AI. I'm now doing an MSc in Computer Science with AI at the University of York part-time. I like being busy and I love learning.
This August I'm joining Mibelle Group in Bradford as a Junior Product Development & Digital AI Analyst, bringing data and AI into how personal care products get developed. I'm really excited about that intersection of cosmetics and machine learning.
Outside the technical work I helped co-found the Women in STEM society at my university and spent two years as a course representative, and I taught coding clubs at two primary schools.
Things I've built
Benchmarked XGBoost, LSTMs, neural networks, random forests and support vector regression against GANs, VAEs and diffusion models for pricing and demand forecasting. The models were containerised with Docker, deployed to AWS SageMaker and served through live API endpoints feeding a real-time Streamlit dashboard for predictions and model comparison.
Built NB-IoT sensors in Node.js, streamed their data through InfluxDB into a live Grafana dashboard and modelled it with Python in Docker. Designed, built and shipped in a single day.
A Tableau dashboard supporting real-time care home bed allocation, aggregating patient demand across regions so decision-makers see the bottleneck before it becomes one.
Collected a month of tweets about ChatGPT and generative AI, classified sentiment with NLTK and TextBlob and served the results in a Flask web app.

The person between prospective students and the university: presentations, campus tours and the honest answers people actually want on an open day. Also sat in university-level meetings feeding student experience back into how the course runs.
Ran coding clubs at two primary schools, teaching programming fundamentals with Scratch. Wrote the lesson plans, tracked each child's progress and learned that nothing tests your understanding of a concept like a classroom of seven-year-olds.
Designed data science presentations for open days and built Tableau dashboards on global warming and fast fashion. My first taste of using data to make people care about something.

Away from the keyboard
I travel whenever I can and take a camera everywhere. I paint with acrylics, read literary fiction, play video games with my friends and have a DIY-and-crafts habit that means no cardboard box in this house is safe. A few favourites below: photography first, paintings after.
